Originating from Japan, fans go beyond just liking their favorites — they practice “oshikatsu”, a term that blends oshi (your beloved character, idol, etc.) with katsu (activity). It’s all about actively supporting your favorite through collecting merch, attending events, and more. Originating in idol fandom of the ‘70s and ‘80s, oshikatsu today spans everything from anime to games — and even extends into VR and digital spaces!
